Fakir Musafar (1930-2018) was an American performance artist and one of the founders of the modern primitive movement. The movement involves body modification rituals and practices inspired by traditional cultures. Practices include piercing, tattooing, flesh hook suspension, branding, cutting, scarification, and corset training, among others. Following the success of the quarterly publication Body Play And Modern Primitives, this book was produced as the first in a series of anthologies of the ‘best of’ from the sold out back issues of the magazine, as well as unpublished content. Featuring content from Vol. 1, No. 1, Vol. 1, No 2, and Vol. 1 No. 3, including corset body sculpting, Korean foot and hand binding, branding, and the yogic art of belly suck.
